When The Office for Legal Complaints was established to set up an impartial Ombudsman service by the second half of 2010, the new CEO & Chief Ombudsman, Adam Sampson, was faced with all the challenges of starting up a new business.
With aggressive deadlines to meet, and an organization of 350 people to get up and running to deliver their statutory function, the newly-appointed Chief Ombudsman has had to move very quickly. The OLC retained Verve Consulting, following an open market tender run through government procurement processes, to help with the design, planning and implementation of the Ombudsman service.
Verve worked with the Chief Ombudsman on designing the key operational and organizational elements of the new entity. The focus then shifted to implementation planning for all aspects of creating an organization – premises, infrastructure, systems, processes and people – and finally, most critically, on the implementation of the plans against challenging targets and deadlines, managing risk and not least, change.
Commenting on what has been achieved, Adam Sampson, CEO and Chief Ombudsman of the OLC said, “Verve were employed to deliver and go the extra mile – and that’s exactly what they have done.”

Verve Consulting attended the Institute of Director’s Women as Leaders Conference 2009 in London on the 4th November.
Over 300 delegates heard inspiring talks from women who had made it to the top in business. Several of our women clients, who themselves have been extremely successful in business, joined us at the event as our guests.
The speakers caused much thought-provoking debate amongst the delegates and the IOD are to be commended for staging the conference.

Verve Consulting announces its involvement with Connect Midlands in delivering the Connect Pathfinder workshops for start-up companies.
Connect Midlands is one of several regional bodies set up by the UK Government to help high growth and technology-based start-up companies connect with potential investors. The aim is to spot potential winners and give them the best possible start in life. One of Verve’s specialties is helping intelligent start-ups to develop successfully, so we are working closely with Connect Midlands and actively help in its activities wherever we can.
Through our association with Connect Midlands, we are now helping new companies in the Connect Pathfinder workshops. Verve delivers the workshops on behalf of Connect Midlands to a growing number of new companies. In an intense one day workshop, this involves testing management goals and strategies, constructively criticizing presentations to potential investors and helping to reframe ideas where necessary.
We aim to send start-ups out to market much better prepared, more aware of the key issues and far more likely to win the support they need to secure their future. Helping start-ups is part of the Verve mission, and working with Connect Midlands is making a positive difference.
